Margin Call

Good movie, and nice way of laying the cards to have a view from a different perspective of what happened- Everyone should watch it but especially those involved in trading indexes, mortgage bankers and investment realtors alike.
It all comes down to the scene almost at the end where John Tuld (Jeremy Irons) says to Sam Rogers (Kevin Spacey) “It is just money.... it’s made up...pieces of paper with pictures  on it so that we don’t have to kill each other just to get something to eat” and that is exactly how money should be seen (I think)and then he says quoting all the dates in history of big bubble bursts “ It’s all just the same thing, over and over. We can’t help ourselves” and in the end concludes by saying that there’s always the same percentage of winners vs. losers and if we don’t react we run the risk of being left out by the side of the road losing instead of having a shot at winning, after all, this is a “sum-zero” game where someone has to lose in order for someone to obtain a gain and eventually make more of that “paper with pictures on it”- My take on this is basically that if you don’t have that attachment feeling towards money this will come easier, not having the attachment gives you the “cool headed attitude” of being able to concentrate on the bigger picture as far as adapt, react and adjust to what sometimes may look like adverse situations and actually yield something very positive out of it- We will come out of this mess and in the meantime let’s enjoy the ride, finding niches within our reach and within our field where money can be made. We will come out of this one and ride straight into the next one and all the time in between is for us to grow smarter and recognize when to adapt and react to situations therefore being able to adjust our own course.
Cheers my friends-
